Three storage modes of video surveillance: NVR, IP-SAN and CVR?
For monitoring projects, we need to consider four parts: front-end system, transmission system, storage system and display system. For transmission system, we have mentioned many times before. Storage system is a very important part of monitoring project, and many friends often discuss it. So today we come. Understand the differences between NVR, IP-SAN and CVR.
NVR is the abbreviation of Network Hard Disk Video Recorder. The main function of NVR is to receive digital video streams transmitted by IPC (network camera) devices through the network, store and manage them, so as to realize the advantages of distributed architecture brought by the network. Simply put, through NVR, multiple network cameras can be viewed, browsed, replayed, managed and stored at the same time. Get rid of the fetters of computer hardware, and no longer have to face the tedious installation of software.
NVR framework
There are also a small number of 128-way NVRs on the market, because NVR is x86 architecture storage + monitoring software, it also has disk array function.
NVR is mainly used in small and medium-sized monitoring schemes, but for large-scale monitoring applications, NVR has more advantages than its short board, more monitoring points, large bit stream, high pressure, large capacity and other issues, which will make it difficult to use. For large-scale public monitoring, we should consider its scalability and manageability, so we use IP-S. NA or CVR storage mode.
IP-SAN, the SAN storage architecture based on IP Ethernet network, uses iSCSI protocol to transfer data and store it directly on IP network. iSCSI protocol is to transfer SCSI command package in TCP/IP package, that is, SCSI over TCP/IP.
IP SAN is also a kind of SAN, but the performance is not the best, but it is not limited by distance. IP storage is widely used, and it can also be used as large-scale monitoring storage.
IP-SAN can divide storage devices into one or more volumes and export them to front-end application clients. Client computers can create new file systems (formatting) for these imported volumes. Client computers access these volumes by means of device-level block access. IP-SAN writes/reads data into multiple blocks in parallel. The characteristics of block-level access determine the high I/O performance and low transmission delay of iSCSI data access.
Simply put, it is stored in blocks. You can think of it as a hard disk with array function. In fact, it is disk array + hard disk.
Compared with NVR storage, ip-SAN is generally used with streaming media servers.
The role of streaming media server is to effectively solve the problem of multiple users accessing the same real-time video data information at the same time, to fully save network bandwidth resources and effectively reduce the occurrence of network congestion. It is necessary to equip a streaming media server in the network monitoring center.
1. The advantage of high bandwidth "block" data transmission.
2. Based on TCP/IP, IP network technology is mature. It has all the advantages of TCP/IP, such as reliable transmission, routable, etc. It reduces the complexity of configuration, maintenance and management.
3. iSCSI storage network can be deployed through ethernet, which is easy to deploy and low cost.
4. Easy to expand. When the storage space needs to be increased, only additional storage devices can be fully satisfied with high scalability.
5. Data migration and remote mirroring are easy. As long as the network bandwidth is supported, there is basically no distance limit, and backup and disaster recovery can be better supported.
Haikang CVR storage mode can support video stream to be written directly into storage device by encoder, save the cost of storage server, avoid single point failure and performance bottleneck of server, unique data structure ensures high stability and high performance of monitoring service.
Storage framework
CVR is a special video storage device for security monitoring. CVR is a TCP/IP video stream rewritten to stream data structure written directly to disk, so the disk is not a file, there is no fragmentation.
1. Unified management of front-end direct writing
Haikang CVR storage mode can support video stream to be written directly to storage device by encoder, and save storage server. Through centralized management platform, centralized management and status monitoring of multi-network storage devices can be realized; centralized configuration and management of storage devices in business systems can be realized; real-time monitoring of the working status of storage devices and corresponding manageable device components, operation protocols, RAID groups can be achieved; centralized alarm management supports periodic status inspection function of storage devices, and system alignment. The state of system operation, array operation, ISCSI, HTTP, CIFS and SCSI channel are monitored and displayed in real time.
2. Simplify the network structure
Haikang CVR storage mode is written directly into storage devices through front-end coding devices. It does not need storage servers, simplifies the network structure, and liberates the network pressure between storage servers and storage devices in the original design.
3. Unique Streaming Media File System Protection Technology
Haikang CVR storage mode uses unique VSPP-video stream pre-protection technology to completely solve the problems of monitoring service stopping, data read-only or loss caused by file system instability or even file system damage caused by power outage.
Haikang CVR storage mode adopts its own unique data block management structure and fault-tolerant mechanism, breaks away from the dependence on server-side file system, avoids the impact of file system damage on monitoring business system, and provides a more stable and efficient management mode.
4. Efficient Disk Fragment Immune Technology
Haikang CVR storage mode combines disk pre-allocation with delayed allocation technology. Firstly, it searches the free space area and uses it to store new data in order to maximize system performance and avoid disk fragmentation. At the same time, combined with the efficient defragmentation program, the disk debris is defragmented when the system is idle to improve the performance of the system.
1. Comparison of NVR and IP-SAN
NVR mostly belongs to front-end deployment and edge storage. IP-SAN belongs to central computer room storage and is suitable for centralized or decentralized storage.
In the field of high-definition monitoring, IP-SAN focuses more on large-scale networked data storage in special industries. This technology not only has super centralized solution ability, but also has corresponding performance in long-distance transmission and management.
IP-SAN supports a variety of RAID levels: 0, 1, 0 + 1, 3, 5. In most cases, Arena recommends RAID 5, because RAID 5 has a higher hard disk usage rate and is a higher security RAID level. In addition to RAID level protection, it can also provide multiple global hot backup disks. Once any disk in the array has problems, the global hot backup disks will work immediately to protect data.
2. Comparison between IP-SAN and CVR
The front end of CVR writes directly to storage by streaming media protocol without network mounting, and the CVR takes active stream. In IPSAN mode, each front end mounts independent iSCSI storage space, which is allocated uniformly by the management server.
Dependence
CVR does not depend on any intermediate link, IPSAN depends on the intermediate management server.
adaptability
In the case of poor CVR network, it is only necessary to try to establish session connection, and the reconnection process takes very short time; IPSAN is liable to cause connection interruption in the case of poor network, and it is time-consuming and easy to lose video by constantly trying to reload the connection between the front end and storage.
Applicability
IPSAN can be used not only for security monitoring, but also for storage in computer field. CVR is a special video storage device for security monitoring.
